Windser Finds Light in the Darkness on His Self-Titled Debut
Santa Cruz-born and LA-based artist Windser (Jordan Topf) just dropped his long-awaited self-titled debut album via Bright Antenna Records, and it’s already cementing him as one of indie’s most exciting voices.
The record swings between raw vulnerability and euphoric release. Tracks like “Abandon” dive into childhood trauma and disconnection, while the dreamy “Shut Up and Kiss Me” and soaring “Lose You” (co-written with Day Wave’s Jackson Phillips) lean into shimmering indie-pop catharsis. It’s the kind of album that feels just as right blasting in your car with the windows down as it does in your headphones on a late-night walk.
Windser's sound is polished but deeply human — thanks in part to production from Jon Gilbert (flipturn, Mt. Joy) and Matias Tellez (Girl in Red), plus contributions from friends of the scene like Daniel Rhine (Phoebe Bridgers) and Dan Bailey (Father John Misty). The result? A debut that feels lived-in, full of ache but also full of light.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve already seen Windser’s name around. His 2023 single “Memory” climbed to #5 on SiriusXM’s Alt Nation and stayed there for 18 weeks. He’s collaborated with Macklemore on “Maniac” and “Next Year”, hitting stages from Jimmy Kimmel Live to Lollapalooza. This album, though, feels like his true arrival.
With his debut, Windser isn’t just introducing himself — he’s staking his claim. It’s big, it’s vulnerable, and it’s only the beginning.
