Inside the World of Moody Joody's Plain Jane

An album six years in the making, a little nostalgia, and a whole new chapter for the Nashville trio.

Six years in the making, Moody Joody's debut album Plain Jane arrives October 30 via Photo Finish Records. And for the Nashville trio, it's the record they've been working toward since the very beginning.

If you've been following Everyday Jams for a while, you know Moody Joody are one of our favorite bands. There's something about the way Kayla Hall, Kaitie Forbes, and Andrew Pacheco approach pop music that keeps us coming back. The hooks are irresistible, the production is full of personality, and even their most danceable songs have something real to say.

With Plain Jane, they're taking everything we've come to love about their music and giving it room to grow.

The Record They've Always Wanted to Make

For Moody Joody, Plain Jane is much more than a collection of singles.

After six years together, the trio finally had the opportunity to create a full-length album with a beginning, middle, and end. From the songwriting to the visuals, everything was built around a shared idea.

"We have been dreaming up this album since the start of the band," Kayla tells Everyday Jams.

That intention comes through in the music they've shared so far.

From the rush of "OOPS!" to the nostalgia of "Suburbia," the tenderness of "Little Blue House," and the shimmering escapism of "Fantasyland," each release has introduced another side of Moody Joody.

The songs feel connected without sounding identical, and that's part of what makes this album so exciting.

Growing Into Their Own

One of the things we admire most about Moody Joody is how comfortable they seem being themselves.

Their music has always embraced big feelings, whether that's falling in love, getting your heart broken, or realizing you've been holding onto something for too long. They make room for all of it, usually with a synth line you'll be humming for the rest of the day.

But making Plain Jane has also changed the way the band sees themselves.

Kaitie says the process brought a level of confidence she hadn't experienced before.

"I think the confidence we've found in ourselves through this album is unlike anything I've experienced."

She credits that feeling to writing more authentically, making bold choices, and fully committing to this chapter of the band.

Andrew, meanwhile, is looking forward to listeners discovering the sides of Moody Joody they haven't heard yet.

"I'm excited for people to experience a lot of new sides of us on this record that we haven't explored before."

There's something particularly exciting about watching a band reach this point. Moody Joody have spent years developing their sound, and Plain Jane feels like the moment they get to show just how much they can do with it.

An Album Meant to Be Heard in Full

In an era where songs are often experienced one at a time, Moody Joody want listeners to spend time with the entire record.

Kaitie is excited for people to discover their favorite tracks, while Kayla hopes the album's story resonates beyond the music.

"My hope is that whoever is listening feels seen and understood through the story of Plain Jane."

It's a fitting sentiment for a band that has made a name for itself by turning the messier parts of being human into something worth singing along to.

And there's plenty more ahead.

Moody Joody will join Valley on their Do You Need to Be Entertained? Tour in spring 2027, bringing their music to stages across North America. It's an exciting next step for a trio whose live performances have become such an important part of their identity.

This Is Moody Joody's Moment

We've been rooting for Moody Joody for a long time, and getting to celebrate their debut album feels especially special.

What makes this trio stand out is the genuine connection behind their music. Kayla, Kaitie, and Andrew have created something that feels entirely their own, blending nostalgia, infectious melodies, and the kind of honesty that makes you feel a little less alone.

With Plain Jane, they're sharing a project they've been dreaming of since the beginning, and we couldn't be more excited to see this next chapter unfold.
