go4broke Turns Emotional Unraveling Into Something Beautiful on “skin”
On his latest release, Parker Keskinen leans into anxiety, identity, and the quiet chaos of becoming
There’s something striking about the world go4broke creates—songs that feel polished on the surface, but underneath, carry the weight of something far more unsettled. His music exists in that tension: clean melodies wrapped around emotional uncertainty, glossy production meeting the kind of writing that feels almost too honest to look away from.
Behind go4broke is Parker Keskinen, the San Diego alt-pop artist and producer building one of indie pop’s most quietly compelling spaces. His work lives between intimacy and experimentation, where melody matters just as much as meaning, and where every release feels like another piece of a larger emotional landscape.
His latest single, “skin,” sits right at the center of that world.
The track began not in a studio, but in conversation.
“The track stemmed from a conversation with my girlfriend,” Parker shares. “She was having a really hard time dealing with her anxiety… we mentioned that sometimes it’d be nice to just ‘step out of your own skin.’ That verbal visual really stuck with me.”
That phrase became the foundation of the song—a reflection on anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and the strange desire to escape yourself, even momentarily. Rather than over-explaining the feeling, “skin” lets it exist in full. It captures the heaviness of being trapped inside your own mind without forcing resolution, allowing the listener to sit inside the discomfort with him.
That honesty is what makes the record land.
Building the World of go4broke
While the emotion always begins with the music, the visual world surrounding go4broke has become just as intentional. Every release feels connected—less like separate singles and more like chapters inside the same universe.
“Definitely the sonic comes first,” he explains. “I don’t think about the visual much until the song is done. This time around, I made a bunch of songs and really felt that they had created this little world on their own.”
From there, the visuals follow instinct. Together with his girlfriend—who co-directs every video—Parker has built the aesthetic of go4broke almost entirely DIY, shaping something that feels personal rather than performative.
“My approach from there is just creating things that feel cool and authentic to me,” he says.
That authenticity is what separates the project. Nothing feels overworked or manufactured. The visuals feel lived in—extensions of the music rather than accessories to it.
That same creative control extends into directing and editing his own videos.
“I tend to have a very specific vision for each one,” he says. “Doing it on my own allows me to express my taste… these videos all feel like me and I’m proud of that.”
There’s a confidence in that kind of ownership—especially in a space where so many artists lose themselves trying to fit a version of success that was never theirs.
The Sound of Uncertainty
Much of this current era of go4broke is rooted in introspection. Not chaos for the sake of it, but the quieter kind—the questions that sit with you longer than you’d like, the uncertainty that follows growth, the tension between who you are and who you’re becoming.
“All of my recent tracks have been very introspective and are coming from a place of uncertainty of what’s to come,” Parker says. “All the visuals represent the existential questions I’m asking throughout these songs.”
That emotional ambiguity gives “skin” its power. It doesn’t try to cleanly tie up the feeling. It lets the mess stay messy. It allows vulnerability to exist without performance, and in doing so, becomes far more impactful.
There’s a reason go4broke’s music resonates the way it does—it feels real. Not in an overly polished, algorithm-friendly way, but in the kind of way that lingers. The kind of song you return to because it understood something before you could explain it yourself.
With “skin,” Parker Keskinen continues building a world that feels both intimate and expansive—one where anxiety becomes art, vulnerability becomes atmosphere, and emotional unraveling somehow sounds beautiful.
Listen to “skin”
As go4broke continues shaping this new era, “skin” feels like one of his strongest and most personal releases yet—a track that doesn’t just ask listeners to hear it, but to feel it.
With its emotional honesty, immersive production, and the unmistakable sense that every detail belongs to a much larger story, “skin” is a reminder that some of the most powerful pop records come from the moments we feel the least certain.
